Salome / Solaris
Two new one-act plays written by Alison Atkinson.
Salome is the biblical story of Salome and John the Baptist. A core scene is
Salome’s dance to words spoken by John the Baptist.
Solaris is inspired by the book Solaris by Stanislaw Lem. The penultimate scene
is a 6-way, free association conversation between 4 actors, 1 belt singer and 1
classical instrumentalist. Atlas is working on a 4D space station for this play.
A mixture of heightened and naturalistic language is used throughout
Salome/Solaris. Production of Salome/Solaris will be a dynamic collaboration
between artists from diverse backgrounds: verse drama, dance, contemporary and
classical music, 3D abstract art.
Atlas aims to mount a production of Salome/Solaris in Autumn 2010.
